As already mentioned by someone else, there's Tether Cabbage!

Just use an apple corer on a head of cabbage, run some poly cord through it, and hang it up for them to peck at.

It will last about a day..... depending on how many chickens are working on it.

I also keep a flake or two of alfalfa for the chickens to work at. They keep coming back to it every day and it's a decent source of protein.

I remember once about someone doing something similar to the cabbage with a fresh rabbit carcass. Instead of letting the pirds get to it though, he hung it higher on the fence and let the maggots drop off of it. It'd last about a week or so. The birds went crazy over those worms though.

We had a bad storm a week or so ago and a HUGE tree limb fell into the yard...I hauled the whole thing, leaves and all, into the run and the chickens went crazy for it. I set it up so they could climb it to get to one of the roosts and they had a ball; they picked it clean and have been using it as a jungle gym. Next time one of our giant trees decides to drop a limb, I know right where it's going...

Throw a few strains of spagetti in there. It is funny as heck as they run around playing chicken rugbe.
