What even is that?? White Polish weirdness!! Help!

Thanks for your update. You may want to separate her in a dog crate for a day or two within sight of the others, and you could try one of the other sprays or bad tasting creams.

I’m feeling worried about our Polish. Her name is Jadwiga (Yadviga).

I’ve kept her in a dog crate that’s in the run since Friday afternoon, and I think it’s working because I see feathers growing in. I also got a different healing spray and have been using that.

Today when I got her out of the crate to put her to bed in the coop, she was stumbling dramatically to the right. She was stumbling and even falling over. When I got my camera to record it, she stopped stumbling and seemed to be standing fine and normal, though she did seem a little… reserved, I guess. Eyes closed when I was holding her.

Maybe did her leg fall asleep? Maybe it got stuck in the crate in a weird position? She had food and water of course, and the weather was pleasant today. Is this a bad sign? I don’t know what to think.

Pictures
1. Her feathers growing in
2. The affected side/foot. I can’t see anything wrong with her leg, but I also don’t know what to look for
3. She did a poo while I was checking her out. Here it is
4. Sleeping just now with her flock mates. I’m not sure but maybe she looks “limp” or “weak”… ?

I have seen a few of mine in the past sleep like that before. I hope that she doesn’t get picked on anymore, but keep a close watch on her. Hopefully, she doesn’t have a head injury or something else affecting her balance.

That’s what I was worried about. This is the first day I’ve seen her stumbling but she’s been separated from the flock since Friday, so I’m hoping it’s just a fluke. I will keep a close eye on her.

Another Jadwiga update.

I have not seen the stumbling again, so that is a relief. It has, however, been the battle of the century to heal her poor head.

I separated her for 4-5 days. She was in the run and visible the whole time. I released her back with her flock mates to good results; her feathers were growing back! I have continued to protect her bald spot with either rooster pick no more or putting her “hair” up as pictured.

Today it rained a lot and I used the cream. I think it washed the cream away and to my utmost frustration she is getting picked on again. Do I need to be more diligent about the cream?? More than 1-2 times a day? More separation? I’m so frustrated because she had a lot of little feathers growing in and they are gone.

Note: I redacted a dumb sign that was in the background. Not relevant for the glamshot

I got some BluKote and have applied it daily. Unfortunately Jadwiga is STILL getting pecking. They are pecking out established feathers.

To make matters worse, we are going out of town next week. Obviously I can’t leave her alone with the flock, so she will go stay with one of my chicken keeping friends who will keep Jadwiga separate from her flock. Hopefully she will have a restful vacation.

Naturally I’m worried about reintegrating her after a week of being away from her flock mates, but it feels like the only option. It’s been so frustrating.
