I have some Japanese quail. But I want to get them fat fast. I feed them starch right now but is there something else that makes quail fat quick?

Starch?

Get some 30% protein gamebird starter crumbles, grind in a blender and provide it and plenty of fresh water 24/7

if you want to go overboard get some freeze dried mealworms too.

You didn't say how old your quail are. Regardless of age starch is not a good diet for a species of bird that eats mainly insects in the wild. They need high protein and will gain weight from it. Feed them as much as they will consume and they will get some fat. Yes on the dried mealworms, you can blend them up and add them to your gamebird starter.

Yes! I have discovered chick food gets them fat really fast.... Also called chick crumble. If that doesn't work I suggest game bird food but I don't know where to get it...

Chick crumble is inadequate for quail. THey need either gamebird starter or turkey starter. You want 30% protein for chickcs and meat birds and 20-24% protein for adult breeders. Chick crumble is only 21%.

I had a rough spot financially and couldn't get game bird food but i mixed in flax seed an a little cooked barley in their treat bowl an they love it! So do all my other birds...i did notice the chickens will get a little bit of runny poo so i wouldn't give it to them too often but my game birds just devour it.
