What gage hardware cloth is sufficient?

I buy the 19 gauge black vinyl coated 1/2" by 1/2" wire. It's a good product; I like it very much. The vinyl coating helps provide an additional layer of protection to the wire, but underneath the wire is galvanized after weld (the better kind).

They also don't overcharge for shipping.
