what gender are my chickens?

I was going to work on finding that cochin a home, but maybe I will wait a bit. My neighbors don't care if I have a rooster so I have some time.

No kidding! that cochin looks like H.E.N hen...

Sure does!

Are you positive it's "crowing", or is it just making super loud noises? I have a hen that is so loud and nerve wracking, she sounds like she's trying to crow. LOL! Sometimes hens will try and "crow" if there is no rooster. I'd wait it out a bit because it really does look like a pullet.

I only heard her on Sat. and Sun. (I was out at 6am because I had to go to work.) The first time I heard her I was not looking in the coop so I jumped up to look in the window and she stuck her head way out and did it again. It was more of a loud and long caw...... Not an actual cock a doodle do. She did it one more time until I opened the door to the run. On Sunday it was the same noise and posture 8 times before I got that door open. I haven't heard it since. I really hope she is a girl, she was my birthday present.

My girls do that all the time. I always say they're screaming at me to get my attention because they either want out, or they laid an egg. I'm pretty sure you've got a pullet there.

Does it sound like this? There's one at 0:34. Not my video, btw. Just an example of the loud, long 'boredom song' that hens do when they're relaxed. My hens do it all the time.

Mine do that too and they also do this.....Not my video either, but I have one that looks just like her and does the same exact thing.

And this one also.....I swear this could be my girls! Hahahaha!

ETA: another video

i'm pretty sure that blue cochin is a pullet at 16 weeks you would be able to see the hackle and saddle feathers of a cockerel if it indeed was a cockerel. i would wait as long as you can on that one

Nope, not that one. I did see a video that was exactly it, but I am terrible at posting links to these things.

I am so happy about this. I have learned so much from all of the responses here. I am positive it is a pullet now :) So glad I did not find her a new home. My 4 year old is also happy that I am no longer calling it Mr Bo Jangles. :)
