Very lovely pullets, Buff Orp males get large combs early and look a lot different at this age.

Oh for real? They have me a little confused because of pink ish color on the comb and their size ngl 😅 but I’m happy with the odds if they end up being all pullets

Buff Orps are big birds, and in my experience the pullets tend to develop that flushed pink appearance pretty early on. With most other breeds, I would be suspicious of how pink they are as well but it is not an immediate sign of roosterdom in Buff Orps. The males often are obvious with a big red comb by 4-6 weeks.

Thank u for the help! 🙂 ya on my male cochin kriel that is around a week younger even him has a way bigger comb and indeed more red so I hope indeed they’re all pullets 🫣

I added (14) two day old heritage Buff Orpingtons to my small flock and looked for information all over to help me figure out how many roos and how many pullets I had. Now 20 weeks old, I can tell you the advice that was spot on: cockerels (roos) have thicker legs, they stand more upright as their center of balance is different than pullets, and they'll develop those red combs and waddles usually, but not always early on. Pullets have daintier legs, hold themselves more horizontal, and are slower to develop combs and waddles. My pullets were hiding behind their brothers and letting them test/ see/ try nearly everything before checking it out themselves.

Testing by wings, etc early on was not accurate for me.

That said, I'm seeing pullets.:yesss: It looks like you have better odds than I did! We ended up with 8 cockerels and 4 pullets. 😂🍗:jumpy

Indeed I can say I had good odds when hatching 6 eggs these 3 came out and now later indeed I can see that they’re all girls !
The tests with the wings also didn’t work with me ngl don’t worry 😂 the girls I can say that they are more scared then the rooster that I have from another breed
Thank you for your help also!
