Chirping
so we have this almost 10 week old chicken and I’m struggling to find out if it’s a cockerel or pullet and also what breed? i did think it could be a sapphire gem but I don’t know. (Also I hope I used the words right but I assume pullet means girl chicken and cockerel is boy chicken I’m new to this whole chicken raising thing
)
here is some information on his/her behavior if that helps: as a baby chick this one has always been taking a sort of “leader” role among them and was always alert and aware of everything in his/her surroundings but not very fond of me holding him/her or being away from the flock (he/she grew up with the other chicks without a mother hen she left them after 3 weeks almost so by flock I mean his/her “siblings”) and now recently I have noticed he/she is trying to pick a fight with every single chicken in the coop including the bigger hens ? ( we mixed them with the older hens when they were old enough and not tiny little chicks) and he/she picks a fight with everyone but one of them is a cockerel so ofc the rooster engages in the fight ( but she/he pecks the cockerel and the cockerel leaves.
For more context: his/her mother is the same, she looks the same and behaves the same shpicks a fight with every single chicken/gen/cockerel in that coop and randomly pecks them and chases them so idk if it could be genetic in that sense?
If this one was a cockerel I assume he would start crowing because our confirmed cockerel has been doing that for a week now but this one doesn’t do that at all, not a single peep from him/her.
down below I have two pictures (and this is in order) of the chicken and the other one is his mother.
If you have more questions on the chickens behavior feel free to ask. I have been analyzing them all since they were babies to understand them better and get to know their personalities so this is just a small summary.
