i have 6 chicks right now, and they are soposed to all be pullets. but latley i have been hearing really strange noises coming from one of the chicks, and i think it was the one pictured below. "she" is seven weeks old and a black australorp, i iknow that for sure. the gender is the only thing i'm confused about. recently i've seen "her" go up to all the other ladies and run towards them, chest bump them, then the others run away? any idea's if it's a rooster? thanks!

I am just figuring out this sexing thing, but the comb/wattle development combined with body posture would lead me to guess "roo". The noise you are hearing was likely an attempt at a crow. Several of mine started at roughly the same age.

i have no problem having a rooster, if fact, i wanted one! all the other chicks that have combs are really small, light colored combs. and the australorps is BIG and really bright red. and i noticed it pushing the other chicks around alot and am crossing my finger its a rooster!

is that also a black australorp, theoldchick? its BEAUTIFUL
