That is a hen, no question.

ISA browns and other red sex links are a cross between a red or gold colored male and a silver gened female. The female offspring are gold with varying degrees of white on the neck and tail. Males look like this:

The point of crossing the two colors is so that the offspring are 100% sexable by color as day old chicks.

However if you breed two ISA browns together the offspring are not sexable by color. Simba49450 perhaps that's what you have. (To satisfy your curiousity yes I do have sex link chickens.)

I get a handful of Isabrown chicks each year, to me all the pullets look the same from year to year, and same with the roos my friend orders for soup. Same old brown hens and white roosters each and every year.

Hen. Definitely! Males are mostly white. That's what sexlink means-you can tell the difference in the sexes by color.

Roosters are mainly white in color. Hens are brown WITH or WITHOUT white.

Gold sex-links= Isa Brown, Golden Comet, etc.

Black sex-links= Black comet, black sex-links.

Blacks are made by using a RIR cock over a Barred Rock hen. Barring goes to the males and the black color goes to the hens. Nice huh?

well, i don't know who to believe

cause 'it's' supposed to be 1 year old and i've had it for about 2-3 months and i have not got one egg, and my stubbron wyandotte has just started laying, so i don't know

When did you get her? WHERE did you get her?

The sex-link birds are notorious for laying REALLY well in their first year, then dropping off substantially in their second year.

I'd bet my whole flock that that is a HEN. HEN for sure.

However, if the previous owners were lying about age, the hen might not be laying very well or shorter days plus the stress of a new home could result in her not laying till spring. OR.. could she be hiding eggs? Good luck with her, she looks healthy.
