What happened was she was alone for about a week then me and my aid went to Ruel King and bought four more chicken chicks, then we took them to her house because I’m literally not allowed to have chickens at my own house. I don’t live on a farm. And I put the new chicks in with Fidget my silkie and she was already terrified of them because they were bigger than her, she hovered in a small corner. Well after I cuddled with her in my hands, put her back in the box with the other chicks and went back upstairs. The chicks were downstairs in the basement with a warm light, food and water and a tent like structure. I forgot to close the tent thing all the way. I went outside in the backyard to the chicken coop and spent time with the six other older chickens for a bit. Then my aid called me in to make cupcakes. Then one of her yorkie dogs barked and went downstairs to try to warn us about what had happened to Fidget. My aid was mad and called her dog back upstairs, don’t blame my aid because she simply didn’t know what had happened yet. Then later, as we sat at the table, we saw a dead chick by the dining room on the floor. My aid picked her up and it was Fidget. One of her three dogs had carried her upstairs in their mouth. Fidget was bleeding and dead. I know my aid’s dogs and they are three gentle small dogs that would never kill a chicken. I believe what happened to Fidget was she jumped out of the box because she was too terrified of the other four chicks and the box was four feet off the ground and I think she broke her neck or legs or something and ruptured something as she jumped and fell on the concrete floor and she probably bled from the inside out. I was only theorizing as we really don’t know what really caused her death. True Story btw.

Can a small silkie chick survive a four foot drop?

I wouldn't be surprised if a four foot drop injured or killed a small chick if it fell awkwardly, but I would be more likely to believe the dog finished it off after it escaped. From what I've read on these forums a chick can survive a height of several feet with no ill effects a lot of the time.

So, what is your own opinion on how it happened?

I just hatched a silkie chick and she/he was literally born on April 7th 2019. So she/he is a week old. She’s/he’s a white silkie chick because the color is yellow. I have a picture of her. I named her Fidget because when she was born she was really restless. Fidget means to be restless. Fidget is also both a girls name and a boys name. Is my silkie chick a male or a female? She squats as she stands and she’s real quiet. She has already grown her primary feathers and she’s only a week old? Is she a girl or a boy?
Post pics at 2-3 months, make sure to show comb and a side view with legs. I have about 20 silkies and they can be tuff to sex. My little Christmas baby, Holly, crowed for the first time last week. Holly is now Harley. Her mom had me stumped til she laid at 7 months. But then I have a 4 week old I know is a cockerel, but have no idea on the other 8-4 week olds Silkies are really tricky. Will you be able to keep it if a cockerel?
