What gender is poppy

This is poppy. Poppy is 8 weeks old. Poppy is a barred rock mix. Do you think poppy is a hen or rooster

I'm leaning toward cockerel since Poppy is only 8 weeks old with that red comb.

I also lean towards cockerel with that much reddening at 8 weeks

That's an awful lot of comb /wattles growth for an 8 week pullet....

Roo Roo rooster ... I have yet to find a hen who has a comb that red that early at all. Nature has it set up in a way that lets you know when your hand is actually ready to start laying because her pink comb will become red. This takes from 16 to I've heard late as 37 weeks to start laying eggs. She will also start squatting a little bit more when that time comes
