What gender is this barred rock

Hello everyone. There's a gentleman who has contacted me about giving me his two 6 week old chicks. One is a barred rock and the other is a red star. He claims the barred rock is a rooster but I'm uncertain and I also have no idea what a red star is. Anyhow I have a photo of the barred rock so opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you every one.
