What genes do you suppose contribute to this color?

No, I am pretty sure that they are silver. I have produced two other silver females that look liked like them but they were wheaten; the two pullets in the picture are birchen. The rooster that produced the two pullets has a similar color. I actually have two males similar to the females. One male has heavy spangling on his breast- the other does not have the spangling.

I am going to test cross the silver cream male with my black-crested white and see if they produce any buff females. If he produces only silver females then I know for sure he is silver. The male only produced silver offspring in my last cross.

This is an older silver cream I produced. She is birchen and I know she is silver.

This is a black crested white. I have more like her but they are about half grown and have a much better black crest.

so you are saying that a columbian restrited(DarkBrown) Birchen silver male with autosomal red on it can produce Citron looking birds? WOW.... I need more pics..more pics.. I have need to see them... but how can this be? what is causing this? it can't be autosomal red by itself...

aren't you shocked to see how autosomal Red makes a silver hen into a Citron looking one? I for one am.. why? should not be this easy

Think of what silver does to wheaten with mahogany: salmon

Illia,
I hope that this helps.

Ginger Red should be Black Breasted Red + Db.
Silver Ginger would be Black Breasted Red + Db + S
Cream Ginger would be Black Breasted Red + Db + ig

Quail Black would be Breasted Red + Recessive Black + Co
Blue Quail would be Black Breasted Red + Recessive Black + Co + Bl
Barred Quail would be Black Breasted Red + Recessive Black + Co + B
Silver Quail would be Black Breasted Red + Recessive Black + Co + S
Cream Quail would be Black Breasted Red + Recessive Black + Co +ig

I agree that the OP's looks to have Duck-Wing in her background.

The males are a similar color- they have more black and a light buff color in them. I do not know if they are homozygous or heterozygous silver. When I cross them with my silver females I will find out.

I have seen the autosomal red segregate differently on a number of silver females. I have other silver females that are expressing a similar color. They are young birds. Next spring I will be breeding again. Next spring I will be able to see how the autosomal red segregates in the offspring. The original cross was a barred rhode island red over appenzeller spitzhauben. My rhode island red carry autosomal red- it segregated in the silver wheaten females I was trying to produce.

In them it was blotchy or covered large areas- one female had a red back.
