What gets your goat when selling chickens?

First off if there is a topic on this already my apologizes. But I'm curious what gripes do you have when selling your chickens?

This is my first year selling chickens hatched from my own flocks eggs and the amount of uneducated people asking if roosters are good pets specially for young kids and if they have more then one if they will get along and their permanent temperament.

It's annoying when you tell them a animals temperament is not permanent and can change due to hormones and other factors, that depending on the rooster and person my or may not be a good pet and not around small kids. They have some snotty come back like your lying another breeder told me they make great pets etc, or you must mistreat your pets.

While I love my chickens and I have my favs they are not pets in the sense of a dog or cat etc.

What get your goat when selling chickens?

And people who want chicks but don’t want to care for them. You mean they can’t fend for themselves!?

I had some jerk trying to offering me £20 (roughly $25 usd) for 8 hens and said oh but I'm coming from a hr or 2 away I should get a discount cuz of travel I told him where he could go on that one.. and one even asked if they could just feed them grass clippings so I told them chicken keeping is not for them. some people are just jerks or idiots... or both

“Oh yes I’m 5 minutes away” *they get there 5 hours later* “Wait, you mean baby chicks can’t live with my older chickens? I’ll just wait until they’re older and get them from you”

Same thing when I was breeding and selling dogs. Three weeks in a row some woman said she was coming out to see a pup I had. Of course I trimmed him up and bathed him, etc. No show. The third week she pulled this on me, I told her to look elsewhere and why? She cussed me out and I hung up.

Luckily someone local called, came out with young son - they loved the pup and took him.

Yes! I had a lady that seem super interested the silkies I had. I told her $10 for a started chick (still straight run), which is a steal. She’s like yeah I’ll get 6 from you. I was thinking about the chicken feed I can buy. Asked her when she could come pick them up. In 3-4 weeks when I can tell the gender because she doesn’t want boys. I told her that pullets are more expensive and she got mad because she wants them for $10!
