I never say the B word. I always pronounce it "Providence". So much more dignified and civilized.

Wow - What do I have to do to rate like that? Oh wait, that's right - EC & I are in a 'posting' a race against each other, so we can't be friends.

Lucky you, Laura. That conversation alone had to raise the IQ of the entire eastern seaboard.

Now my mind is racing, wondering what each of your accents sound like...

Buffs accent is so lovely real American! I love it.....

OUCH my stomach hurts from laughing so hard...

mmmm....tasty cakes....the peanut butter one in a chocolate coating.

Don't have em here in Il. but when we'd travel to the eastern shore to visit relatives.

I never say the B word.

Really? Not "Bahstin"? "Cah"? "Bubblah"? "Chowdah"?

You truly are an original if you haven't been pulled into that dialect, given your proximity. Or are those on the Cape impervious to the gutteral utterances of the eastern Massachusetts populace?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you.

Lord knows, growing up in central MN, it truly was like something from the movie "Fargo"...

Naw, no regional accent at all. Us good girls are never influenced by inferior surroundings.

Seriously, what's funny about the Cape, is that there's very few people here with an accent. Those that have a Boston accent are usually over 60 years old. Funny that way. I wonder if it's the influence of generic TV news announcers, or whether younger people lose things quickly in order to not stick out. And a ton of people who live here full time have moved here from many different places. My co-worker Linda is a true Cape person, raised here. Very rare.

One slang I love is "oh gosh, don't have a nutty".

You know, that's something I have noticed about the Providence/Warwick area when I am out there - It's a thick accent, or none at all.

I don't think I have much of a midwestern accent, but I do slip into the "yah" once in a while.

Being a person of muddled, inferior background unlike yourself, I suppose I am not as impervious to that type of thing as you.

I'll just have to try my best to lift myself above my surroundings.
