What happened here?

I let a goose sit on a turkey egg with geese and duck eggs and after the eggs all hatched, I found the poult dead in the pond. The goslings and ducklings are fine. Why did they kill the turkey?

It doesn't sound like they killed it. It sounds like that it was following it's mom and siblings into the water it didn't know that it wasn't a duck or goose.
