I had a 10 week old sebright bantam chick die a couple days ago. It was a pullet. She was outside in my "Grow up pen" with 6 other bantam chicks. I got her locally at the age of 5 weeks. But when I went to feed them one evening she was laying down so I picked her up. She was still alive but she kept twisting her head around. Her breathing was weird and her eyes were half closed. I knew she was going to die so I held her until she passed away. (Which was about 10 minutes later). But before she died I put her on the ground and she started beating her wing on the ground. It was very strange and all the chicks she was with are fine. Her bottom beak had always been longer than the top, so I trimmed it with clippers every week. What happened???? Please help!

She may have been showing neurological symptoms such as wry neck just before death. Have you seen any of the chickens with symptoms of coccidiosis such as lethargy, standing around puffed up or huddling, poor appetite, ruffled feathers, an diarrhea with or without blood? Any respiratory symptoms?

The chickens she was with showed no symptoms at all. But, she was the only one showing signs of coccidiosis. So I had been putting corid in the water. I also saw that when she pooped it has some blood in it. I never noticed any respiratory symptoms though.

Oh if she had coccidiosis, she was just showing signs of dying. Be sure that the others are drinking enough of it, or give it with a syringe to them orally. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your help! I hope I don't lose anymore.
