What happens If Chickens Eat Turkey Grower Feed?

Yeah.. 16% is the norm for a layer.. I have given them 20 & 22% when they needed a boost.. but that's as high as I have gone.
26% and up is a bit too much in my opinion for the average laying hen and the cost of the feed at the higher percentages isn't cost effective for just a few more eggs.

What about adding it to their regular feed in Winter?

Here is a pic of my boy that I posted on this thread 2 years ago that was on a high protein feed for a few months. He was hatched and raised with turkeys.. He is about 3 years old now and he is huge. Be careful with feed that is too high in protein for chickens. Or else your chickens will look like this. :/ He feels like he weighs about the same as the turkeys but he has no leg or foot problems. He is a big bully in the chicken yard. He was raised with turkeys. I will have to weigh him this weekend to see how much he really weighs. I can barely pick him up without using extra muscles.

Last year, I had a chicken egg that magically appeared under a turkey hen and I didn't know until the baby chick had hatched. Well, I decided to let the turkey be the mama of the baby chick, so the baby chick ate the same feed as the poults. I always feed Purina Game Bird Starter 30% protein to all of my poults, so the chick ate the same thing as they did. The baby chick was fine. Although he grew at an unusually fast rate and he was a Big Ole Boy, to this day, he is healthy with no problems. He only ate the 30% protein for about 4 months and then I switched him because he was getting to big. He is THE largest rooster that I have in my chicken yard. Every person that stops by is amazed at how big he is. One guy offered to buy him for $50.00. I told him no. My boy ain't going nowhere!

I raised some Chicks with my Poults and of course they were fed Game Bird Starter from what I noticed from the Chicks eating the food was that they had grown faster and bigger like Miracle Grow for Chickens I have those same Hens now more than a year old laying eggs for me and there were no bad effects.
As stated previous there could be some ill effects to the smaller breed chickens but for your standard breeds I don't see a problem.

You may enjoy the outcome. It definitely puts meat on their bones. He is one of my favorite roosters, with his big ole self. He looks so clumsy running. He reminds me of a 13 year old who is 6'5" and wears a size 18 shoe and running around in the yard.
