What happens when you let your kids name the chickens?

My EE Hen Maisey was renamed by the kids from across the street to fat-fat. She was a favorite of theirs and always fed her! Needless to say she loved the kids too, as soon as she saw the kids come outside or heard them coming she ran for them making all kinds of noises calling all the others to follow her and get some treats too! LOL

I wanted to name all ours with names from the movie "The Chicken Run" but my 5 yr old daughter named them before I could (her and hubby went to fetch the chickens).

My friend just got chickens and her little sister (1st grade) named their BLACK (I repeat, BLACK, all black and NO white) silkie Oreo. Oreo? Really.

My kids have named most of our chickens. My daughter tends to give them refined, Victorian names, whereas my sons name them after Pokemon, Star Wars, and who knows what else. Therefore, we have had Victoria, Lydia, Elizabeth, and Jane alongside Chirpy, Buneary, Steve, Cream, and Cheese, to name a few.

Our current flock is Hagrid and Buttons the roos, Dobby the hen, Victoria, Steve (the pullet, named by my 7 year old...), Flooferton, Yoda the silkie roo, Pigeon, Sherlock, Cream, Cheese, Emmy, Flora, Spazzy Susie, Daisy, Chirpy, and Girl.

I did name one of our BA girls Q-Bert after the 80s Atari game, but she was killed by a raccoon at 9 weeks

Loving all these names! And especially the fact that at least one other person in the world has a pullet named Steve.

Uh Oh. She's changed her mind. Now they're going to be called Elmo, Cookie Monster and Chainsaw.

The first two I can live with, but CHAINSAW?????

My birds' names aren't near as cute as some of these. I've got Philip Morris, Virginia, Fluffybutt, Dodo, D L Doh, and George. Just about everyone else my little one named is called....

That chicken there!

Strangely, they answer to that

we have Nugget the Buff orpington (hes the same color as a chicken nugget from MCD)
KFC the RIR
White the white lehorn
Bug the Amerecauna (he was eating a big worm at the time he was named)
Mack the Pekin duck (Cars movie he was big as a mack truck my five year old said)
Stoplight the Runner (we were siting at the first stoplight when we left the feed store)
Skittles the khaki campbell
Toby and Mima both mixed breed black ducks......those names are a long story
Louie the call duck.......the only left out of Huey Duey and Louie
and Beans, Taco, and Enchilada all Muscovy ducks (my kids found out they were from mexico)
and Nemo the BO RIR mix we hatched in bator with a bent leg and one wing smaller than the other

I stopped leting them name them cause they dont want to eat the ones with names. If they dont have names its ok!
