What Hatchery is the best?

I have had a good experience with Cackle. One hatchery I would advise you NOT to order from is Privett. They have snotty snotty people working there.

Just rude people. rude on the phone, dont return emails, wont send a price list wheather you ask for it on line or over the phone, didnt send any extras. And lots of people on here of had the same experience. Do a search and look up threads on here about them. They did actually bother to send me a price list for this year since I had ordered from them last year I guess, I just glanced at it and threw it away. I wont be doing any more business with them.

This has been said a million times on this forum but Im gonna say it again. Hatchery birds are just that. They are in the business not for quality but quantity. You won't find non production pure birds from Ideal, McMurray or other like hatcherys. If you are looking for the real deal or show birds go to the breeder. Other wise you will spend allot of money only to have someone at the show explain to you what Im telling you now. You may have a pretty bird, but thats all it is. The Barred rocks are a good way to explain it. Any Barred rock from any Harchery looks like a Barred rock to the untrained eye. They are big pretty birds however they have production blood added in that taints not only the purity but the confirmation that a judge will see. The color doesn't make the bird, its the way they are built. I have RIRs and you can buy them at any hatchery, however you can't by the "Ol blocks" The real birds have a square body that is unmistakable, as well as the deep mahogany color that isn't red, its almost brown. I can do down the list. Please do your home work before buying a bird from a hatchery to show, or think you will be building a breeding program of substance.
