You mean the calls saying "I know you're a sucker and can't say no. I've got some chickens" or "I found a stray, do you want it?"
This neighbor is my kiddos' bus driver and knows we've started getting involved in chickens. I was actually tickled that she thought of us.
I just wasn't expecting to more than double my flock so soon!
I am also thinking that my husband isn't going to let me go to the show in Connersville to pick up some older pullets to add to the 3 we have now. Maybe I'll go anyway, just to see what they have.
I always seem to end up with someoneʻs pregnant cat when I get a call like that!
Congratulations... they look beautiful and with their little tails sticking up in the air, you would think they were Leghorn X Seabright!... but they are just too white. Maybe Leghorn X White Rock?

Thankfully, I started doing a lot of reading here several weeks ago...before getting my big "kids". I had read that about the newspaper. Switching out that for paper towel was one of the first things I did.
Then yesterday I put them on pine shavings, which they seem to LOVE! Lots of fun! The larger one seems to like taking a dust bath in it!
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Better to be safe than sorry.

I have gotten to the point that I can say "NO" when someone asks me to take a dog or a cat." And let them know that there is a great no kill shelter in the area! (and it's NOT me!!)

Thank you! I am totally clueless on what they could be crossed with! I'm sure I'll be posting pictures as they develop. We just got our first chickens last month at the Ohio National. Before that I knew very little. (ok, I still know very little. But more than someone who's never read anything about chickens!)
