Thought this would give us all some ideas on how to save a few dollars, and in this economy, everyone could use the help.

So post what you have done to save money.

I'll Start.......

This morning I sent grocery shopping, I always shop on Mondays, but today just so happen to be the first of the month

so I had to leave early.

I pulled into Food Lion 's parking lot with a prayer of saving lots of money and getting some great deals. Well, I got just that.....answered prayers & great deals!!!!

Just on the meat I added up the regular price and it came to $228.94

but with the sale/markdown stickers and with the extra markdowns (befriend the meat market manager) the total just for the meat came to $97.65

That's a savings of $131.29

ETA: the savings from the rest of the groceries (using the MVP Card) was $68.43, so that brings my total savings to $197. 72

I thought I got such a good deal that I treated my kids to Root Beer Floats.

I too went grocery shopping today. I got a spiral cut frozen ham that the store had leftover from easter for $6.00 off! It's no where near the sell date and it was originally a $14 ham for $8.00!
I bought baby back ribs for $2.00 off (sell or freeze by today)...

I got great fruit snacks for the entire month for all three kids for $10...

I bought 60 yogurts for $12...

Good deals!

I processed two of my Cornish X this morning...

I hung my laundry out on the line....

I boiled several of my duck eggs and fed it to my chickens to supplement there protein for today...

IMO Best money saver is dont spend unless you have to. If you dont need it keep walking.

My husband and I spend less than $10 on our dates. Redbox, popcorn and some chocolate makes for a nice time. We schedule our dates around our son's school schedule so we can have the house to ourselves without a babysitter. I have not seen a movie in the theatre for years, I wait for it to come out on video. For family events we go on trips to scenic areas or parks with a packed lunch. We have a yearly membership at a local animal park so we can go as often as we want. I buy groceries in bulk and drive 45 minutes away once a month to visit a grocery outlet. I dont buy namebrands. I dont buy lots of cereal or other expensive food items that can be easily substituted with cheaper foods.

Most importantly, we dont have a car payment (we buy our cars outright), we have a low morgage (we shopped for a house till we found one that we could afford easily and fit our needs), we have no credit cards so no credit card debt, and we keep at least $1000 extra in a seperate account for emergencies. You might think we make alot of money but you would be wrong. We make less than $40,000 a year and since I have become a stay at home mom we will make even less.

My best advise is the first advise.
