I think the Hale Bob was a seperate incident. The Hale Bob was where everybody sold everything they owned and waited on the comet to come pick them up wasn't it? Then there was the Wacko from Waco several years later, and then a few years ago the Mormon-ish cult thingy in Utah(?)where kids were being married too young etc. World is full of crazy I tell ya!

hmm...not to hijack,,but wasn't the Jim Jones massacre/suicide/genocide ? in Ghana?..There was a documentary/movie..about it..Powers Boothe played Jim Jones...?..I think I will do a google....

I bought a pack of Shrek freezies in 2002 when my DD was a few months old and teething.... (i use the freezies when they are cutting teeth) well anyway these were green because of shrek and he was all the rage... I went to get my DD a freezie to chew on (closed) and I noticed a dark spot in it... i figured it was food colouring that was not dissolved so i passed on that one and set it aside... gave her a different one.... i went to check the first one a few housr later after it thawed and there was a full grown fly sealed into the tube for the freezie. I called KISCO the maker and told them what happened.. they were like right lady QA would have caught it... so I asked for the general managers name and I sent it directly to him explaining that i was shoved off by the customer service people and I sent it registered mail so it would stand out from the thousands of pieces of mail he received in a day well a few days later I got a call from the general manager himself, he was mortified and I have never paid for a freezie since... I get regular mailings with coupons for freebies

Hale Bopp(BOB)-Heaven's Gate cult. Sold all their possessions and commited suicide at the sighting of the comet in beliefs that they would be carted off to heaven. Lead by Chuck Shramek who claimed to have seen a "space craft" trailing the comet. They were supposed to board this craft. 39 people commited suicide because they believed the Earth was going to be "recycled" and the only way to not die with it was to board the craft.
