What I really like about this board

Long story short: We're trying to move everyone from the ezboardBYC to this new forum that is actually tied into the original www.BackyardChickens.com website.

Many people still visit both boards, but in time the other board will be used less and less, and this one more and more. Personally I like this board much better (because it is faster and posts aren't deleted/expired) so I pretty much only spend my time here.

I think it is the lack of so many photos (or the larger photo sizes) that makes the board load up faster...as I understand the "bells and whistles" would not slow anything down but the extensive photos do.

Well, as for me, I just go back and forth between forums until the time ezboard forum is gone. It's the only way I know of to keep up with everything.

how bout tryin the bells and whistles and seeing if that actually makes any difference...like the emotes (including the ones from the ezboard forum) ???

Modding the forum take a LOT of time and work. Once a mod is installed it then takes a LOT of work to pull it out again.

Don't worry, bells and whistles are coming. I don't want to give you guys all your presents at once!

Remember, this board is only one month old!

First of all, I want to welcome all our new members...
Ellen, yes, we're trying very hard to dodge the "Yuku bullet" and make this forum every bit as friendly as the ezboard BYC.
Don't anyone fret though...we're not taking ezbyc down anytime soon....
I'm actually going to trust all of the members, old and new, to tell me when they're ready.....
There's enough in the community chest to keep ezbyc up for a couple of years.....

Oh, and I'm on dial up for now too, so I'm right there loving the fast loading....

How about one present, emotes?

I like the emotes but they contribute to the slowness. I noticed that whenever the emotes were animated the load time for me went way up. Now if I visit the other BYC I open everything in new windows so I can just go to the top of the screen and x it off. It doesn't always work but it has increased my ability to zip in and out faster whether the 14 8X10 pictures had in a topic or not.
