My uncle is very knowledgable about chickens and farm animals in general. He showed me this last week and asked me to help him find out what it was. I joined the forum pretty much to find out.

The bird is eating well, growing "normally", behaving normally... it has five fingers and feathers under the eyelids. It is a a dark smoky gray color... any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, thanks so much!!!! Any ideas why this one has 5 fingers? Is it common for chickens in general to have 5 fingers as a deformation?

I think that is a Naked Neck X silkie mix...that would cause the black skin and the 5 toes.

And, that is a really tiny NN for being so feathered :)

Here is my black Naked Neck Turken. She is small enough to be considered bantam size. A little smaller than a silkie the same age. Her parents were the size of a RSL though, so she may just be slow growing. Everyone answered your question, but here is mine just to compare :) She is 11 weeks old and fully feathered. They are extremely healthy birds overall. Very good with heat AND cold. They are not a chicken x turkey cross. I've been asked that by anyone who visits my farm :P

Since we are sharing pics, here is a pic of my NN pullet at about 16 weeks...I just absolutely love them, they are by far the sweetest of all my birds!

Wow!!! Thanks everybody, I love this forum!!!

My uncle does not even have a computer... he'll be thrilled when I show him your posts in my laptop. We have tropical weather in Puerto Rico year round and we are a small island... it is not common to see varieties like these everywhere. I will check how old is the chick... it was given to him by a friend who came across the chick... is it possible to get this turken from "regular" non turken breeds?

In fact it is rare to see any of the gorgeous breeds I see in this community that belong to cooler temperatures...

My uncle has mostly English breeds and a local breed that we call "kiri"... Is a beautiful minature version (very, very tiny) of English breeds... we also have a beautiful local breed of tail-less roosters, they also are bred in the tiny size... I will try to upload some pics of mine soon... for now check this "kiri bolo" (tiny no tail breed)...
