What in the world are these guys?! Leghorns?

Cornish X are a hard bird to keep alive till maturity, so props to you! How did you even do it?

I feed them exactly the same food as any normal chicken would eat. I do NOT give them an unlimited amount of food, they will act like they are starved, but I don’t give them what they want lol. I give the one I have now (she’s 5 months) rooster booster poultry cell once to twice a month. I give her a large amount of space to roam and seperate her food and water for extra exercise.
My last one was 2 1/2 and was perfectly healthy like all my other chickens, but she got attacked. She was so sweet and had the most personality I’ve ever seen in a chicken... best chicken I had. But they are amazing pets and with good care, great egg layers!!!

I purchased 14 chicks described as Easter Eggers. Now, I figured these guys weren’t EE, but I took them anyway just out of curiosity and because I felt bad leaving them behind. Someone told me they may be Leghorns, but I’m a tad nervous they’re meat birds. Any idea what breed they may be and also what sex? Pretty confident that at least one is a cockerel. Cornish Cross. Meat birds. You will have to eat them. They literally suffer if they live past that.

Are you sure it wasn't a white Rock? They are excellent layers. Cornish X are not, and most do not make it to 1 year of age.

I am POSITIVE it was a Cornish X. I don’t have any pictures of her, but I have a picture of my 5 month old (she’s 4 months in the picture)

And my last Cornish X weighed about 15 pounds and her legs were THICK. She was very heavy and of course fat lol.

Possibly Austra white? Some are all white and some have that little touch of coloring in the wings as in your photo 3.

They are a broiler breed, though not Cornish X. What would your plans be for broilers? Would you process them? The pullets could very well reach laying age, but not be great layers. Obviously the cockerels won't give you any eggs.

I guess if it’s for sure some type of meat bird I’ll convince my husband to process it Or give it to an experienced friend. Just not sure at what point I should make that decision. I don’t particularly want roosters because I have some other suspected roosters, so I don’t have as much hesitation with them. Since I don’t have a definite idea of age should I go by weight to determine a timeline of processing?

Hm, this is an interesting thought. I do have another white one that I didn’t post a pic of. We call him Dot because he has a few dots of black and also gray legs. I assumed EE with the gray legs, but maybe not. Maybe these white guys are related! I could hope.

Most of the austra White are all white or have a tiny hint of black in their wings, but I have also seen a couple with a copper like tint in their wings as well. That’s what made me think it’s a possibility.

I’m still holding out hope that these AREN’T some type of meat bird. They have been enjoying time out of the coop and are pretty active. They don’t have wide set legs. They don’t seem any bigger than my others. They don’t lay around all day and aren’t losing feathers. I’m certain they aren’t a purebred of anything, as none of the chickens I got in the bunch are. Could this be enough to continue holding out hope?
