My guess is also that this is a tumor. And it has likely been picked at and the tissue has become infected. If you believe this is on the superficial layer of skin, perhaps it is not a tumor, and treating it as a wound could heal it. You see, you have the advantage over us who only see this thing in two dimensions. You have the ability to also use touch to manipulate it to judge how deep it goes.
