What in the world is this??

I agree looks like poultry lice.

I prefer permethrin spray...
TE006407
won't cause respiratory issues like dust.. Just a small spritz below the vent, under each pit, and to the nape of the neck... all with feathers parted so it hits the skin. Repeat in the correct amount of days according to the label in order to break the life cycle completely and avoid any resistance. I paid $8 at the local feed store in the equine section for this product and lasted me 2+ years with 82+ birds, 3 dogs, and 2 goats. Works on other things like red mites, northern fowl mites, mosquitoes, fleas, lice, and such. Is safe, effective, affordable, easy to use, labeled for use in chickens and requires no withdrawal time for eggs. It comes under other brand names like Martin's and in concentrate forms. Can also be used on walls and roosts if needed... but lice live and lay there eggs on the host. Not sure about cat safety though since I don't have them.

Nice job catching them little creeps! :sick

Please don't waste your time, energy, money or chickens health trying to use DE... it is OFTEN ineffective! :old
Do the lice pose any initial threat to her or any other chicken (such as a sick one?) I am going to order it but should I do 1 day shipping? I can't get to the store so I need it delivered and wanna know if I need to send someone or if I can wait a day or two

You can wait a day or two, the lice arnt going anywhere.
Lice are more of an irritant than anything else. They can make a bird to scratch itself incessantly causing scratches to skin which could bleed. Then there would be the possibility of infection.

If a bird was VERY ill and INFESTED, it could be a problem as it can causer anemia.

I wouldn't worry about an extra day or two changing anything most of the time.

I haven't seen any visible signs on the sick baby like I have my bigger one... I gave the bigger one a bath and I haven't SEEN any. I first noticed them because they crawled on me after I picked up my girl. I haven't seen or felt any more. I am currently treating my baby with tylan and I'm not seeing any on her skin

It can take a toll on chicks MUCH faster than grown fowl simply because they have less blood volume in the first place.

IF I were worried about waiting... I would cut/smash/crush and either make a tea to spritz on a little or simply rub the clove on a few locations... it may or may not have any impact... but it is non harmful astringent that MANY pests will avoid.

And I would also supplement the babe with some form of probiotic if I was treating with Anti ones in order to reintroduce the good. Mixed in the water, or yogurt, even Greek yogurt.

Not sure about shipping cost but this a good value for the product itself... https://www.horse.com/item/fly-rid-plus-spray/E006407/

Parasites suck. It's important to study and be aware of different symptoms ahead of time so you can know what behavior changes to look for ahead of a problem getting out of hand. That's a good close up picture. Was it taken with a cell phone or camera? What kind?
