Thanks. These chickens just started laying so I will need to make sure they have calcium. I leave it in a separate feeder do I need to mix it with their food or will they just take it from the separate feeder.

Assuming your currently feeding a grower, starter, or all flock, to add calcium you'll want to feed oyster shell in a separate feeder so they can eat it free choice.

Weird eggs are common in new layers. Unless you keep getting these regularly, it's not really a problem.
If you want, you can give them some oyster shells in a separate dish.

Don't mix the oyster shells with their feed. Just add a dish with them 24/7 they will eat them when they need them. I also mix crushed egg shells with the oyster shells, some of my chickens like them better but the calcium in the oyster shells is more bioavailable.
