**URGENT**
Hi there! I made an account on this website just to find answers for my hens. I recently adopted a hen from a family member. This hen has a weird bump/thing on its left foot. She doesnt walk on it and doesnt put it all the way on the ground. She limps pretty bad. She does however use it to scratch her head. She eats and drinks fine. She also lays almost everyday. Ill try to post pictures. There are 3 things im concerned with here. 1.) She has a "callus" looking thing on the top of her foot. 2.) She has another on the bottom of her foot, near her heel (looks like a nail/claw). 3.) She has super scaly and dry feet. Does anyone know what she may have and how to cure it?

Maybe bumble foot.
For treatment:
(i don't know if you already know this, but just in case, I will tell you)
1) Soak hen's foot in warm salt water
2) Try to squeeze out the pus in the bumble (in the foot)
3) ...You have to cut out the bumble, maybe just get a vet to do that bit

Thank you! I'll see what vets are nearby

Here is a great video on treating bumblefoot - you can find PRID at Walmart usually. Remember- you can ALWAYS do 'surgery' later- why not try the most conservative approach first … either way you'll need vetwrap, gauze, non-stick pad, Neosporin (original only, no "pain relief" formulas) -- very nice to have - Vetricyn for poultry.

I agree with others I think bumble foot and scaly leg mites. They are both relatively easy to treat. If you want to try yourself, soak her legs in warm water with Epsom salts for 10-15 minutes to make it easier to pick the scab off. Squeeze and get puss out (the puss will be hard rather than runny like humans get) make sure you wear gloves. Put an antibiotic cream on and wrap the foot, changing the dressing every couple of days until healed. As for the scaly leg mite, again soak her legs in warm Epsom salt bath. With a very soft tooth brush clean her legs, dry and and lather in vasoline. Do this every couple days until her scales look normal :)
