Some people consider bantams as strictly ornamental. I was raised eating bantams roosters and bantam eggs almost exclusively. I still prefer bantam eggs and some of my friends do too. Being small doesn't mean they can't be utilized as food. I raise coturnix quail and no one has any issue with the small carcass size and small egg size. Much, much smaller than a bantam.
