What is a battery chicken

    I have seen many references to battery chickens. what are they? I keep imagining robotic birds with Duracells in their backs but I doubt that is what they are.

    They are hens kept in the little battery cages for mass egg production. Poor little things have no life at all.

    Agreed. In our Wall-mart it has "no cage" eggs? Think thats real?

    No cage eggs I beleve are from hens raised like meat chickens. In a big chicken house but on the ground with nests lining the walls.

    Thats a little better I guess. I think I'll stick with my own eggs.

    Kristy....they are the little chickens you can get at walmart and put batteries in....[​IMG] [​IMG]

    ok really I am just kidding, a battery chicken is one that is kept in a small cage for the sole purpose of laying eggs. I am sure there is more info on this but that is what I understand from the term.
