I have 3 . They are a cross between a Rhode Island Red rooster and the Barred Rock hen mine are black with reddish feathers around the neck and sides. I believe they are "sex linked" because they are easily determined to be male or female based on the coloring of the head when they hatch. MIne were hatched on May 1st so they are about 9 weeks old now. The baby Chicks are color sexed- males faded barred with light colored neck feathers , pullets are black with red mixed in their neck hackle feathers. This hybrid makes for very vigorous chicks, rugged brown egg laying hens and good cockerel fryers.
