I have 3 gold laced wyandottes that are about 4 weeks old. What is a good age to start letting them go out side and get used to it for just a fouple of minutes at a time, should i go ahead and start now?? Thanks

You can start letting them outside for a few minutes at this age. Just don't keep them out too long-- if they're not fully feathered, they may get cold.

Welcome to BYC!

Oh absolutely get them out for a field trip! I start mine out at 2 weeks old. Helps break up boredom and gets them used to new places. Just supervise them carefully and never leave them alone as they are hawk bait for sure. I like to start with 10 or 15 mins, and then increase the time each day by a few mins. You can even take them out to the coop so they can get used to being in there as well. Makes for the coop transition easier.

Good luck with your new babies and welcome to our flock!

If they are precocious enough to find bugs/worms outside then you will have to see that they get
grit sprinkled over their feed, is you don't have small stones, gravel or sand outside.
