What is a good computer to get?

What you have left is hard drive space. Not gonna get into "memory". lol

Kathy, depending on what you want to embrace, but Mac OS is my first choice for everyday stuff. No pain, no strain. It does indeed just work.
Otherwise, I am geeky enough to completely enjoy running Linux, which will run on any hardware.

Computers are machines. They do what we tell them to do. I've been geeking since the double digit Tandy TRS-80 days, and you've got to be over 50 years old to even know what that means. Mainframes and heck, even punch card machines before that. Ok....... TMI

If all you need is the computer (not the keyboard or the monitor) why not take a look at this? It's a screaming system for a home user.

Would that be good for a gazillion pictures? I take tons of pictures and I know how to upload them onto the computer.... BUT, I don't know how to save them on a stick thingy...... (is that called a flash drive thing? I have some of those, but don't how to use them). SOOOO, my computer is FULL of chicken pictures.

My computer is 5 years old, and when I bought it it was a top of the line, costing nearly $2,000.
I have already deleted so much stuff, I hardly have anything left to delete!

Is a Mac the same thing as a PC? See how stupid I am? I have no idea! ! !

YES!! It's better than mine and I have eleventy gazillion photos on it. With less than 10% USED.

Since your current computer was top of the line 5 years ago, you don't need a new monitor or anything other than the computer itself, or what folks usually call "the hard drive." Or "CPU" - central processing unit. The cabinet with all the stuff inside it (including the actual hard drive storage mechanism).

iMAC, a MAC, or Apple, or any Apple product is NOT the same as a "PC" - the two letters mean "personal computer" but have come to be used as meaning an IBM based computer system. It's MAC or PC. SO, no, a Mac is not the same as a PC.

Another question.... does "all in one" mean you have no tower?

Yes. I, personally, am not all that secure about getting that sort of system. If the monitor dies, you gotta send in the computer. If the computer dies, your monitor goes with it to be repaired. Well, the latter isn't all that awful, I suppose, since you don't have a computer to run it when it's out for repair... but I prefer component systems over "all in one." Even with audio equipment and DVD players, which is why I won't buy a TV set with a built in DVD player.

We just bought new laptops (I read that is not what you want), and we have it set up like a desktop. Monitor and keyboard plugged in and it "feels" like a desktop, yet when I have to travel for business, I can just unplug and go. It's an Asus I got at Best Buy. I mostly use mine for FB games and BYC, email.

Thing with computers these days, even a bottom of the line model has WAY more RAM (memory) and hard drive space (where you save pics and recipes, etc.) than you or I will ever need.
I just got an Asus for my wife for Christmas. GREAT BUY.

But kathy, I'd go to the HP site and shop. You want a STATIC Hard drive (1TB) with as much RAM as you can afford.

I have used Fujistu Laptops for over 10 years now. LOVE THEM, but my next buy will probably be an HP laptop with a static hard drive.

Oh and those USB memory sticks and Camera Memory cards are awesome.. but nowadays they need to be at least 8Gigs or bigger.

Good luck... OH and get a REALLY good modem and router because computers are like Chickens. You'll want more.

Is this good? It says SATA hard drive though.......
