What is a good price for egg laying Black star Hens

I am looking at getting a coop and some egg laying Black star Hens but they are wanting $15 each for the hens. That sounds really high to me. What do you think?

If they are point of lay or pullets laying $15 is the average going rate in most places for well kept hens.

I just sold a few black & red sex links and I get $ 15.00 for them and they go like hotcakes, I think it is a very fair price. Add up cost of the chick, feed and water any supplements, by the time they are laying well, at 15.00 bones I am breaking even, do the math.

Buy them all and sell them to people in Hawaii. Any young layer goes for at least $30 here.

At $15 I don't think they're making much money at all, just getting a return on their investment.
