What is a good price to pay?

I am wanting to get some guinea, so I was wondering what a fair price is to pay for them. Their are a couple people who have some for sale on my local CL and they are wanting $25 each for both males and females. The colors they have are pearl, lavender and one lavender pied. Should I offer them a lower price or what?

We have several guinea fowl for sale. They are great flock protectors and warn you if theres something fishy. they are full grown expect for the two lavender ones that are about 7 months or so which are pretty rare stores dont sell this color anywhere

$20 or $25 is a little pricey, especially for the normal/common Pearl Greys. And "full grown" could mean any age so I'd get a little more info about their exact age if I were you, you don't want to end up with older sterile/infertile/non-productive Guineas for that price!

Lavenders are not a rare color, they are in backyard flocks all across the US and easily ordered from most hatcheries, but as the seller mentions feed/farm stores that sell keets don't usually order that color.

It's pretty common when people are selling adult Guineas they need the pen space or need to lower their feed costs... and in the meantime they still have to feed them. Some people take that into consideration and will agree to a lower price. So yes, I would offer them a lower price (on multiple birds.. no more than $15 a bird), and ask for the youngest birds possible so you get the most bang for your buck.

OK thanks peepsCa, Before I had it all lined up to get a lavender pied female and a lavender male that where 8-9 months old for $15, but then the Lady's husband said no $25 each. I was very disappointed that they canceled

Just wondering guineas are not pigs are they? (do they eat a lot of feed?) do they eat about as much as a standard sized chicken or do they eat more?

I think the guy should just keep them, if he thinks that highly of them. I would buy some keets. You can get young ones for under $5 each. You hafta keep the adults penned for at least a month or they will simply wander away, not knowing where home is. If you raise keets, you can turn them loose at 2 months and they will stay home, except for their wandering. they tend to travel nearly a mile from home on a daily basis, but return at night. When they're adults they will stay closer to home.........Pop

one of the reasons I am wanting to get adults is cause my parents wont let have power in the coop and I cant have any thing in the house, plus I am getting a 5x10 coop with a 10x10 covered run from down the road and that would be thier new home and they would stay in thier for 2-3 months to make sure they learn this is thier new home.

Kool! Lotsa folks that sell/hatch guinea keets will have some older keets that are 6 weeks or more old. These will be fully feathered and suitable for your new coop. I would think that older keets like that would still be less than $10 and well worth it. Whatever you decide, You will have fun with them. Please don't give that guy $25 for adults. Put a note on the bulletin board at the feed store, or look on Craigs list. The feed store idea may be more fruitfull. Good luck........Pop

A truly outragous price! Don't do it. Pearls are usually sold for $3 as keets. Most purples & lavenders are also fairly common and only $1 more, if that. That guy's a moron.

I would never pay that much for a guinea, considering that the first time I got guineas I paid $25 for three mature ones a pearl male, pearl female and a lavender female (8 months) I also called his wife and told her what peepsCa said in post# 2 and she said she will talk to her hubby and let me know what he says, so I am hopeing that he will consider what I told her and he will drop his price
