what is a red cap and should I buy some?

In addition to my post about houdans, I can also purchase two or 3 red caps, and I know nothing about them either. Is 12 bucks each a good price and are they good birds?

Red Caps are another originally really rare breed in which most nowadays come from hatcheries. They're a neat breed, but I really don't know much on their egg laying or meat qualities. They're a partridge colored chicken with a huge rosecomb, hence their name "Red Cap."
