What is a typical percenatage of shipped egg hatch rate?

I have hatched twice and have some in the bator right now...all shipped eggs.

My very first time trying to hatch eggs I got 9 out 12 lemon blue Cochins

Next hatch I got 12 out of 15 hatch ( but that's because I took 3 of the eggs and tried to put them under a broody hen but she just moved boxes and left them. So I put them back in the bator in the morning but they didn't develop so I blame her and rate that 100% hatch!)

This time I have 14 eggs in the bator. Candled last night and still have 13 moving and going strong, 1 didn't develop at all so here's hoping.

All my eggs were shipped from Ohio to Georgia. But the last hatch (100%) the eggs were stuck for a week at the PO due to the huge ice storm we had here and shut the city down. So I have had an awesome time with shipped eggs.

My 1st hatch ever I had local eggs, and out of 36 eggs, we had 14 hatch. I won 6 eggs on Ebay, and 5 hatched. Also won 24 silkies on Ebay and 23 going into lockdown. In this case I had more luck so far with shipped. GO FIGURE!! But my luck their all boys!!

going into lockdown with this batch of eggs..

1 mutt egg (mine. only one of mine in this batch.. the rest are shipped)
5 delaware eggs (out of 13 shipped).. if all 5 hatch it would be a 38% hatch rate
15 assorted turkey eggs (out of 19 shipped).. if all 15 hatch it will be a 79% hatch rate

if someone doesn't make it .. I'll post an update

I asked this same question last year when I first started buying shipped eggs. Since then I've had from 0 to about 90% hatch rates. I sat 24 eggs from one shipment - got NONE to hatch, had five eggs from another place and had 4 hatch. It's just a gamble.

I might add, I have had eggs that came packaged like the were going to be sent into space and not a scratch on the box, shipped in only two days in great weather and still had poor hatches. There is just no way to know what happens to them while being shipped.

Looking out the window right now I see several $50.00 chickens.

Some of the eggs I shipped early in the year from one side of the US to the other hatched at over 90 percent. I was shocked. This time of year with the heat it is quite a bit lower.

Oh it gets better George.....

I have a broker coming Tuesday that buys all our culls, there are three extra roosters and one pullet that has a wry tail in cull pen, all of which I hatched out of shipped eggs, all BEFORE figuring in feed I've got $40.00 to $50.00 each in. The broker gives.. ummm

not much per head.

on the plus side, he takes whatever I've got on hand doesn't matter if it's 20 or 200.

Are you ordering from the same supplier each time? Which supplier?
