new bantams from a sale barn (i know not a good idea) but they are beautiful and I seem to fall in love with pets and animals in need. Currently using VetRX but what can i use for the mites along with this or will I over medicate my lil ones ?

Food grade diatamacious earth, also known as DE. It is a natural solution for mites, composed of microscopic crushed, fossilized, marine animals. It is sharp to the mites, but harmless to the birds and other animals (I do recommend wearing a dust mask when applying though). Just dust your birds thoroughly with it. If you cant find DE you can bath your birds with a puppy shampoo, it will clean them up and zap any lingering mites. I have used both and never had an issue.

I have used Sevin dust without a problem. If you actually have mites now, you should use Sevin or permethrin on the birds every 7 days until the mites are gone. You will have to clean out the coop and nest boxes too. DE will not treat an active outbreak of mites.

I spray down the coop with Mann Pro poultry protector each week when I clean the coop and mix DE in with the sand of their dust bath. Have never had a problem.

Well just bought them and have them isolated in 3x3 cages and my other birds are further up in the yard free range but the yard birds get lice every year but these bantams have mites for sure :-( and one pair has respiratory disease

I would return the pair with a respiratory disease, and if they were with the others, they may also start to show symptoms. What are their symptoms? You don't want to expose your other chickens to this disease, and they will be exposed eventually because even if the 2 recover, they will be lifelong carriers. Here is some reading about respiratory diseases (look at mycoplasma gallisepticum, infectious bronchitis, ILT, iand coryza): http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

I will have to keep them separated because mine are bantams and my husbands are game and the littlest bantam I have has the biggest attitude. I wish I could return them but I bought them outside a sale barn (2pair) buy the other pair came from a different man and are healthy but with mites. I am using vetrx on all of them though just to be sure :)

The grey ones are lethargic and bulgie eyes and rattle in there airways. The other ones seem to be fine though except a bit of a rattle in their breaths but I believe are getting better because there is less swelling and more movement

Vetrx won't do anything to treat a respiratory disease like an antibiotic would. It is a mix of herbal oils to help open up air passages. You should use very good biosecurity with all of your chickens because MG and coryza can be carried on clothes, shoes, hands, and utensils. I would cull the sick birds rather than expose other healthy chickens. Once you get a disease into the flock it is there until all birds are gone. Sorry, that link is here for diseases: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044
