what is better one large incubator or two small ones?

Make a third one as a hatcher! Lol. A seperate hatcher would be better. The less you muck with eggs, the better, so while incubating eggs, you don't want to be pulling chicks out or anything. Plus, I'm not sure how the humidity would work with that.
I'm not sure about large fowl chooks, but I do know that bantam chooks and quail can be hatched together. I've done it many times, often brooding them together until the chooks were too big for the brooder.

thanks.
they will each have a hatch tray so the large fowl will not be hatching with the quails but just in the same hatcher.

would this be ok?

cheers youri.

Honestly, I have never checked to see exactly how the hatching trays work for incubators. I'm not sure how much more humidity they hold than the rest of the incubator. Someone who actually has one of these would have to give you the specifics.

i know how they work.
but do you think if i have a hatch tray for quails and one for chickens that i can have them in one hatcher?

If you can get one to have higher humidity than the other, then, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to hatch quail/chickens and ducks in the same hatcher/incubator. The temperatures are the same, just different humidities. The chickens and quails can be hatched together, in the same tray or different trays. They both have the same requirements and can be hatched/incubated side by side if you wish.

thanks.
the thing is that for each incubator/hatcher it costs me $60 just for the thermostat.
so if i can incubate the quail and chicken eggs together and hatch them together that will save me $120 just one thermostats plus all the wood etc.

i will at least have just one hatcher for the quail and chicken eggs and would be good if i could incubate them together as well.

i will have the duck eggs in another incubator.

cheers youri.

I started my quail raising on a very tight budget, so I understand.
