As someone who had chicken math from the get-go (I intended to buy three hens from a 4-H kid and came home with four), I think you have perfectly described the condition.

Sometimes, I manage to go an entire year without adding new birds. Okay, I only did that once, and it was terrible. But, I'm only getting two this year. Honest. Well, we'll see how that goes.
