What is currently in your 'bator(s)? EDITED AGAIN!

Tonight will be day 4 so I better wait a few more day's before I candle. How long should I wait?

I would give it at least 7 days since they are a slower growing species. But if you're pretty adept at candling you should be able to tell if they're doing anything by the end of day 5....

The local feedstore wants them. I talked to her on Tuesday, and told her I'd have 12-24 available in 3 weeks, and she's like "I'll take them now!" I want to wait until I can sex them so I have at least 6 breeding pairs, then the extras she can have. I figure if she wants those so bad, I'll hatch more. I only got 35 out of my last set of 100, but I'm hoping for a better hatch this time. They're coming from someone here on BYC, so I'm already feeling better about the hatch. I have no idea how old the last eggs were. These will be about 4-6 days old by the time I get them, so

Zookeeper, I'm beginning to think the Dorkings are as fragile as the Bobwhites... I just tossed 10 out of 18 eggs.

And I'm down to the last 4 of the Red Dorkings (out of 18) due tomorrow. I guess I should just be patient and wait for my chicks to arrive. I wonder if the hatcheries have as much trouble with the Dorkings as we do?

I don't know about the that Tori. I do know that 6 of my dorkings were infertile so what does that say for the Rooster, she only has like 5 hens and 1 roo. I would think that would not be a problem for 1 young Roo, she said he was 2. Who knows I will keep ya updated on mine. At least I only paid $2 a dozen. I am so sorry to hear about yours having to be tossed. I can't imagine what you have tied up in tossed eggs.

I refuse to add it up.

All in the quest. I do have 7 in the incubator so far that are developing nicely. Next tuesday I'll candle the next (last) set of SGDs and see what's what. On the bright side, I just had a Red Dorking hatch.

I have chicken eggs in there now. Some EE, Some Frizzle cochin, some black tail Japanese, and some BB Game Bantam. Soon I will have some Guinea and Reeves Pheasant in there. I want more rare breed chicken eggs but my bator will be overflowing with eggs for awhile. (Time to buy another LOL I wish. I'd love to have 2.) I'm hoping for a better hatch. I only got 3 live babies out of my 1st hatch ever with 30 eggs. Not good:( I think it was a combination of shipping and my lack of experience hatching that did them in. Some developed and then died and some never developed at all. At least I knew how to candle from FFA poultry judging team. I'd just never hatched before.
