What is going on with this egg?

I got a shock when I cracked it open.. Has it just gone bad? Why is it so red? It doesn't smell bad btw

Edit: I just realized that it's most likely a half developed chick

Hard to see what's in there, pull it all the way out on a white plate and take a clearer pic.

Is it possible that's it's a chick?
You have a rooster and don't collect eggs frequently enough or found it in a 'hidden' nest?
