What is going on???

I have what I thought was a Maran (cuckoo) that just laid a green egg! She is is with just 7 other chickens. Four lavender Orpington, one rescue sex link (at least 6 yrs old) another austrolorp rescue ( at least 6 years old) and her. I can’t understand why it’s green. She is just 4 months old..born March 4th. Any ideas? To look at her, she’s a Marian, but I’m thrown for a loop now. I’d love to hear what people think. Her sisters are also laying green eggs.

Where did you get her I dont know much but maybe the breeds arent what you think they are again I am no expert just a thought

Where did you get her?

If you didn't order her specifically from a hatchery or a breeder as a Marans then she's probably an olive egger created by a cross between a blue layer and a Cuckoo Marans.

Thanks…it’s what I figured. Her breeding is suspect. But, she has fooled some of us as to what she looks like. I’ve had chickens for over ten years, but this is the first time I’ve been surprised like this! I was given eggs to hatch for someone..
