What is he?

I volunteer at the Animal Shelter from time to time and yesterday, I stumbled across this guy. He had till Sunday to live or he'll be going for slaughter. So for the price of $15, I took him home. I was told there were 3 hens that were seized with him. But were still in quarantine, and they be ready for adoption on Tuesday. Anyone know what breed he is or is he a mutt??? He is really sweet and doesn't bite. He also comes to you and eats out of your hands.

Yep, really big compared to my Bantams. Heavy too.

may be assil or brazilian $15.00 is very good deal because they so expensive here in california they go around $200.00 or more congratulations for this find they not easy good luck

Or Shamo maybe--I can't tell the difference between Asils and Shamos but they are really prehistoric-looking. I hope you can get the hens!

He is a Oriental breed of some type, chances are good that he will not get along with other roosters so it you have other rooster you would be smart to pen him up. You might have to do the same with the hens if you got any with him.
Also I would keep his feed at about 16% to 18% protein The high protein feeds are hard on those big Oriental breeds.
