What is it? **GRAPHIC PICS**

Coon.
Once you start trapping continue until the trap stays empty for a week, then set it out again in two weeks, repeat till you are too old to move.....
Where there's one, there are twenty....when the twenty are gone, twenty more move into their vacated territory..it's an endless cycle....

I don't think it was done by raccoons. Anytime I have had a bird killed by a raccoon it has been torn apart and eaten. I would lean more towards a weasel or something like that as they kill and then just drink the blood. Just my two cents.

Racoons have torn the heads of several of my chickens and not eaten the rest. Like to also pull them through the fence by the head or wing.

Awful creatures that look cute but are such wretched killers...I detest racoons.

I would say raccoon. I've seen their handywork on a half a pen of pheasants. Looked very similar. Some eaten almost completely and others left like this.

Bird of prey, probably an owl. They tear the head off and rip open the breast.

Look carefully at the first picture. You can see in the dirt where it's wing marked the dirt.

My guess would be raccoon.
I hope you don't lose anymore birds.
