What is it with NOSEY people?

Maybe your DH reminded her of her son or her own DH and it was just something she didnt even think about doing, and just reacted as she would normally. Maybe she just lost her husband and was lost in thought and that incident reminded her of something he constantly did (coming out of the field dirty from farming).

I dont know... but... given she's 70 I dont think she meant any harm by it by any means. Would I have given her a funny look? Yeah probably...but...given her age, I would have said "Thanks, didnt even see the lint there" and smiled.

I'm agreeing with Hennysmom here- it probably was an automatic action, and a fond memory to boot! The age part made ALL the difference here,
