What IS Mr T????

Thanks for all the replies, he is a cutie! I was hoping it would be a girl so she could stay for entertainment but he's definitely a he! I haven't had the time to email the breeder I got the polish from or the girl the lady that hatched the eggs for her to find out what he could be. I really just want to make sure he isn't something more then a mix because I have a young girl who is just getting into chickens. She has two hens so far and would like to have him. I think she'd be a good home for him but she lives about an hour away so we have to work a way to get him to her. With my truck getting 11.9 mpg I can't deliver a free roo to her. She explained her setup and sounds like she knows what she doing, understands that she needs to keep them separated until they get use to each other and she has the set up for that.

I've never had Silkie's so my question is, will he be OK with full size chickens? Since I think he's Silkie/Polish LF, he shouldn't be too small. So would he be a good roo for big girls?

I know huh! My son and grandson's want him so bad but they can't have roo's in town. He's a stocky little thing too! Mr T's a prefect name for him! That's why I'm hoping I can get him to this young girl for her pet.

Just throwing this out there, in case we could get a chicken train going....I'm in Paradise and she's in Cottonwood, anyone going that way? I'll post it on the CA threads.

Silkies - Faverolles - Houdans - Sultans - Dorking all have a 5th toe.
Polish should never have Feathered Shanks unless there a cross (most likely with a Sultan).

Now I would count out Faverolles because the of OP's bird not having White Shanks. (Faverolles have White Legs and White Legs are Dominate and all F1 offspring would have White Legs)
Houdans can also be ruled out because they are clean legged and they have White/ White Mottled Shanks and as with White Legs they would be Dominate and the F1 offspring would have either White or White Mottled Legs
Sultans can also be ruled out because they have White plumage which should be Dominate
Dorking are also clean legged so there out

That would leave the Silkie.

Chris

The feathered leg gene is found in some polish crest , I had a breeder tell me this e sed it is rare and it is recessive , but I agree silkie and polish lol

I have sultan polish crosses, no white legs, some have the 5th toe others don't as with the shank feathering. I have some that are white with a few black feathers, a soild black alot of buff laced and a perfect golden laced hen from them. The polish dad is soild white with a half black tail feather ( came from two sliver laced parents

) and the moms were white sultans. Is your roos face skin dark or light colored? If dark I'd say silkie, if light he might be a sultan mix. Very pretty anyway you cut it.
