I agree.Welsummers should have very yellow legs...I don't think that's a Wellie, maybe a mix, but only time will tell.

I'm sorry about the loss of your little one. It's always sad to lose some of our flock. Cackle Hatchery does not sell true Ameraucanas either. Despite the fact that hatcheries and feed stores (which get their chicks from hatcheries) frequently and inaccurately sell their Easter Eggers under the labels Ameraucana (often misspelled as Americana or Americauna) or Araucana, the only actual hatchery that sells true Ameraucanas is Meyer Hatchery (My Pet Chicken gets their chicks from Meyer Hatchery) which sells Blue Ameraucanas, and they charge 5 times as much for them as they do for their Easter Eggers. There is a good article at http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/09/ameraucana-easter-egger-or-araucana.html explaining the difference between Ameraucanas, Araucanas, and Easter Eggers. There's nothing wrong with EEs. They lay eggs in different colors and will typically outlay true Ameraucanas or Araucanas which lay only blue eggs. Our EEs are my granddaughter's (pictured in my avatar) favorite chickens. She loves their different colored eggs.I was told that they came from cackle hatchery. That little one died this morning. But I just got a new one. I was told that it is an Americana Here are the pictures of the new new one
Can you tell if it is a hen or a rooster
Sounds a little like an Aracauna, which have ear tufts and no tails. Post a pic.My new little one has puff checks and No tail feathers. It has a featherless butt.
